Our Youth Advisory Council

Our Youth Advisory Council members are shaping the conversation on how media impacts young people's lives. During their term, they will bring media literacy activities back to their own schools to make an impact in their communities.

Basil M. Basil is interested most in spreading awareness regarding the dangers of the internet. She loves to write stories and articles.

Davney S. Davney is interested in media literacy because it relates to youth voice, online discourse, and storytelling across digital platforms. Through creative projects and conversation-based media, she values encouraging critical thinking and intentional media use.

Faith A. Faith is an online content writer for a STEM blog and has been published on a teen-led magazine for her opinion pieces. She looks forward to helping others improve their knowledge on writing and understanding the online world.

Gabby H. Gabby is a ninth grade student involved in many forms of community service, musical events, and more. She finds interest in creative writing, composing, and photographic journalism.

Jacob F. Jacob is a dedicated student journalist, always looking for a way to connect the big stories of the day to the local community.

Janan G. Janan is a 10th grader interested in media literacy and educating people on the safe uses of technology. She's looking forward to sharing her ideas and working with other students.

Jess B. Jess is into media literacy because she's seen friends repost stuff that turned out to be totally fake, so she likes helping people her age figure out what’s real and what’s just edited or misleading. She also cares about digital citizenship, like stepping in when group chats get messy and showing younger kids how to stay safe and respectful online.

Jessica A. Jessica is deeply interested in media literacy and digital citizenship, particularly how young people can critically engage with political, social, and mental health content online. Her work centers on using digital media as a tool for civic education, youth empowerment, and responsible information sharing across online platforms.

Kenzie M. Kenzie has had a large interest in social media, film, and journalism for as long as she can remember. She is especially interested in how the media shapes the public’s opinion and impacts people globally.

Lina F. Lina is an artist, writer, and environmental advocate interested in conducting interviews to convey the complexity and uniqueness of the world.

Mensah A. A creator at heart, Mensah leverages his lifelong passion for design to explore the intersection of technology and media. He aims to help his peers navigate the digital landscape by promoting media literacy and ethical design in an increasingly connected world.

Mallory W. Mallory wants to help make online and physical media more accessible so it can be enjoyed by all. She also hopes to create a safe digital environment for teenagers through research.

Olivia T. Olivia is passionate about media literacy and digital citizenship, with a strong interest in how students evaluate online information, recognize bias, and engage responsibly on digital platforms. She is especially interested in promoting critical thinking, ethical technology use, and informed participation in an increasingly digital world.

Setyana B. Setyana is a high school senior who cares deeply about educational equity and public policy. She explores media literacy as a powerful platform for communities to understand and engage with these topics thoughtfully.

Vincent J. Vincent enjoys watching live sports and television shows like Percy Jackson and Suits. These interests help him connect with media in a personal way while staying engaged with popular trends and shared experiences.

Yenee K. Yenee is a 10th grade student from Montgomery County, MD. She is interested in posting her artwork on social media and connecting with artists from across the world on the internet.
